The individuals nominated should have made a significant impact or positive influence that assures the future of our industry in the lives of generations to come.

 

Once nominated, an individual’s biography and photo are updated on the site, and he or she is placed in the polls for voting. At the end of the year the committee takes into consideration the votes and decides which candidates are inducted.

 

Those with a star (*) next to their name below were either inducted posthumously or have passed away since being inducted.

Doug Grove

 

Doug Grove is a Managing Partner with RHA Community Works in Riverside and a licensed Landscape Architect with more than 40 years of professional experience.

 

He has led the planning and design of parks, recreation facilities, public spaces, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, and public works projects throughout California. Doug has created hundreds of parks, from large community sports complexes and regional open spaces to neighborhood playgrounds and specialty recreation areas, five of which have received the prestigious CPRS Award of Excellence. A LEED Accredited Professional, he is recognized for integrating sustainability, accessibility, and community engagement into every project.

 

Doug is also a sought-after speaker and educator, having presented numerous training seminars and conference sessions for professional organizations, public agencies, and industry groups. His presentations have covered a wide range of topics, including park planning and development, equity in parks, California's Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), pedestrian-oriented streetscape design, California native and drought-tolerant plant materials, natural versus synthetic turf, sports field design, servant leadership, and writing effective Requests for Proposals (RFPs). He is known for combining practical experience with real-world case studies to help agencies and professionals successfully plan, design, and implement community projects.

 

He has held numerous leadership positions within the parks, recreation, building industry, and landscape architecture professions, including serving as President of the California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) State Board of Directors, becoming the first person from the private sector to serve as President in the organization's 77-year history. He currently serves as President of the Building Industry Association – Riverside County Chapter and as a Director for the California Turf and Landscape Foundation at the University of California, Riverside. In addition, he serves as Director of Fundraising for the CPRS Administrators Section Board of Directors, where he brings more than 30 years of fundraising and development leadership in support of the Section's programs and initiatives.

 

An avid mountain biker, Doug spends his free time exploring trails throughout California, Utah, and Arizona, always seeking new routes and opportunities to share the adventure with fellow riders.
