Hall Of Fame Inductees

 

The individuals nominated should have made a significant impact or positive influence that assures the future of our industry in the lives of generations to come.

 

Once nominated, an individual’s biography and photo are updated on the site, and he or she is placed in the polls for voting. At the end of the year the committee takes into consideration the votes and decides which candidates are inducted.

 

Those with a star (*) next to their name below were either inducted posthumously or have passed away since being inducted.

 

Nomination Qualifications

  • Person with integrity and passion
  • Minimum 20 years in industry
  • Someone who has developed  or invented  new technology
  • Has made contributions that resulted in change
  • Contributed to mankind’s needs in his field
  • Provided education and encouragement  with self-sacrifice
  • Changed the industry

Bill Arman

 

Bill Arman is a 60-year green industry veteran, 2006 National Landscape Leadership    Award recipient, and author of the book and recruiting kit, “The Harvest Way for Recruiting and Hiring the Right People.”

 

Bill’s start in the green industry was in the summer of 1966 as a summertime gardener on a maintenance crew for a homeowner association with 90 homes. The days were filled with learning the fundamentals of landscape maintenance and his loving every moment! This stint as a gardener continued for the next nine summers while Bill was attending Jr High School through High School and even through his college days. 

Bill attended his beloved Cal Poly SLO where he earned his BS in Ornamental Horticulture in 1976.  

 

Upon graduating from Cal Poly, Bill joined Environmental Care, the maintenance division of ValleyCrest Landscape.  During his nearly 30-year career with ValleyCrest, Bill worked his way through many field positions culminating as Regional Vice President for Southern California overseeing a $25 million portfolio with 6 offices, 5 separate service lines and with over 500 team members.

 

While at ValleyCrest Bill also spent two years as VP of Human Resources serving as the primary architect for the development and implementation of the national training program, performance management system, and the recruiting program for this 10,000-employee company.

 

In the fall of 2007 Bill co-founded a national landscape business consultancy/coaching firm called The Harvest Group where he serves as The Head Harvester. The Harvest Group has served over 500 clients in 45 states and 9 countries ranging in size from $100,000 to $50,000,000 in annual revenue. The Harvest Group also assists owners with their succession planning and successful exits from their businesses with their Harvest the Green team.

 

“Head Harvester” Bill now lives his true-life purpose and passion in “Harvesting the Potential” of organizations, their team members, their customers and their leaders.

Bill is a native Southern Californian and lives in Temescal Valley on the first fairway of the Trilogy Glen Ivy Golf Course with his bride Carrie Joy (Definitely Love at First Sight in 1973) They have three grown children and are blessed with 6 grandchildren! When not  “Harvesting” Bill can often be found exploring the wineries of California enjoying good red!
