The individuals nominated should have made a significant impact or positive influence that assures the future of our industry in the lives of generations to come.

 

Once nominated, an individual’s biography and photo are updated on the site, and he or she is placed in the polls for voting. At the end of the year the committee takes into consideration the votes and decides which candidates are inducted.

 

Those with a star (*) next to their name below were either inducted posthumously or have passed away since being inducted.

ALLEN J. MUNRO

 

Allen J. Munro has dedicated more than six decades to advancing the irrigation industry through innovation, entrepreneurship, and an unwavering commitment to serving irrigation professionals.

 

In 1965, Allen and his father, John T. ("Jack") Munro, founded Munro Supply in Grand Junction, Colorado, building a reputation as the Rocky Mountain region's trusted authority on pumps and water movement. Working directly with agricultural producers, landscape contractors, municipalities, parks departments, schools, and homeowners, Allen gained firsthand insight into the unique challenges faced by irrigation professionals.

 

Recognizing that irrigation required specialized solutions, Allen led Munro's evolution from a regional distributor into a nationally recognized manufacturer focused exclusively on the irrigation industry. At a time when most pump manufacturers viewed irrigation as only a small part of their business, Allen built a company dedicated to developing products specifically for irrigation applications. Under his leadership, Munro introduced numerous innovations—including the SmartBox®, BrainBox®, Complete PRO®, Complete BOOST®, LP Series pumps, custom pump stations, and advanced pump control technologies—that improved system performance, reliability, ease of installation, and long-term serviceability.

 

Allen's vision extended beyond product innovation. He believed irrigation professionals deserved knowledgeable partners as well as quality equipment, leading Munro to build a culture centered on technical expertise and exceptional customer support. This commitment helped strengthen the irrigation distribution channel and enabled contractors and distributors to better serve their customers.

 

Allen has also devoted his career to strengthening the industries and communities he serves. He has served as President of IDCO, a member of the Board of Directors of NAHAD, a founding board member and board chair of the Western Colorado Business Incubator Center, a board member and Western Colorado representative for the Colorado Small Business Development Center, a member of Colorado’s Governor’s Council on Small Business, board chair of the Revolving Loan Fund of Mesa County, and a founder of the Western Colorado Manufacturers Council. Through these roles, he championed manufacturing, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and economic development throughout the region.

Today, Allen's legacy lives on through the company he built, the products that continue to serve irrigation professionals across North America, and the next generation of leadership at Munro Companies. His lifelong commitment to innovation, quality, and the irrigation industry has left the profession stronger than he found it, making him a truly deserving member of the Green Industry Hall of Fame.Allen Munro
