Hap Kellogg

Board Of Directors

H. Clay "Hap" Kellogg
President / CEO , Kellogg Garden Products

H. Clay Kellogg IV, known as Hap, was born in Long Beach, California in 1961. He attended school in Palos Verdes and graduated from Rolling Hills High School in 1979. Hap began working for the family company (Kellogg Supply, Inc.) bagging soil amendments during school breaks when he was a teenager. Following High School, Hap worked for a year on a dairy near Cheyenne Wyoming, attended and graduated from the University of Wyoming and lived the life of a rodeo cowboy riding Bulls in college and professionally. The same year he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business from the University (1984), he married his wife Kathy.

Shortly thereafter, Hap returned to California and re-joined Kellogg Supply as a Sales Representative. In this position, Hap was responsible for selling Kellogg products to independent nurseries, garden centers, home improvement centers and landscaping facilities.

In May 1987, Hap was promoted to Vice President of Sales where he created and implemented a marketing plan for the sale of fertilizer and soil amendments, while also managing a sales force of nine people.

Just three years later, in 1990, Hap became President of the family company, a position he still holds today. As President, Hap was responsible for leading two divisions of Kellogg Supply: the Marketing Services Division and the Horticultural Division. The Marketing Services Division sells horticultural and food products to approximately 400 supermarkets throughout Arizona and New Mexico; the Horticultural Division, and Kellogg Garden Products, sells soil amendments and fertilizer products to approximately 3,000 retail outlets throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Hawaii.

In 2012, Kellogg divested of the Marketing Services Division and has reinvested those funds in three new businesses: Kellogg Controls, Kellogg Fungicides and Kellogg Organics.

Hap is a member of Vistage, the Green Industry Council and has also served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Nurserymen, Los Angeles Chapter, (1986-1990). He was also a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (1981-1992) and a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (1980-1984).

Today, Hap lives a life that, as much as possible, is centered on God. He prides himself on "being a neighbor that cares" and enjoys church fellowship, evangelism and worship at La Palma Christian Church, where he is an active member and participates in various ministry organizations. He enjoys spending time with his family, wife Kathy of almost 30 years and grown children Cody and Chelsea, and is a fan of the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Hap also enjoys leisure time with others. His hobbies include: spear fishing, diving, desert riding, camping, backpacking, skiing and snowmobile touring.
