Steve started Organic Control Inc. in 1976 to provide beneficial insects to home gardeners who were looking for alternatives to chemical pesticides.  At that time people were just becoming aware of the harmful environmental impact caused by humans and making efforts to reverse the damage.  Organic Control pioneered the effort to treat a multitude of garden issues in a safe and natural way.  The company grew by selling beneficial insects through lawn & garden distributors across the country.   In 2013, the company merged with Kellogg Garden Products, and today Steve serves as a consultant with Organic Control Inc.

Steve is an avid bicycle rider, and travels across the country and to Europe to enjoy some of the world’s beautiful scenery from a slow speed point of view.  In winter, he can often be found on the slopes at Mammoth Mountain or other great ski venues around the country.

Steve is fortunate to be able to enjoy these activities with his wife of 35 years, Paula White Hazzard, and when possible, with his son Daniel.

Currently Steve serves as the President of the Westwood Village chapter of Sertoma International, a service club that helps kids with speech and hearing challenges.
