Our History

CLCA Ambassador and Past CLCA State President Charles Nunley, has had a decades-long dream of somehow recognizing Green Industry achievers – past and present. It is a dream that was first shared with him in 1984 by Past CLCA State Presidents Henry Soto (1952), and his wife Rose Marie Head (1985). In the original vision, this recognition would also include a large warehouse filled with landscaping equipment from previous eras, where school children could be bussed and taught the history and values of the Green Industry.

Charles made this dream his own – more so with the passing of Henry and Rose Marie. He began to look for a way – for the vehicle or institution – that would not only honor remarkable individuals, but would also bring honor to the industry they represent. In 2005, Charles’ dream became a reality. That’s when he met Richard Daigle of Irrigator Tech.

It seems that Richard had a similar dream, and interestingly enough, his also included a museum showcasing the evolution of landscaping and featuring early irrigation equipment and other Green Industry treasures. Te two put their heads together and formed a small committee. They soon reserved a domain name…and the Green Industry Hall of Fame was born.

Previously, Hall of Fame inductees have been honored at the Irrigator Tech Educational Conference generally held in the fall. But in 2011, the committee was expanded to include past honorees and additional top-notch technical support. This hard working group soon had a new and broader vision of the entire Green Industry Hall of Fame process
